Eating disorders impact men differently yet, many men treat it like a secret and don't get the help they deserve.

Despite eating disorders being gender neutral, they are often under and misdiagnosed in males for a variety of reasons. Moreover, it's a common experiences for males seeking eating disorder treatment to experience social stigma and are made to feel like they don't really have a problem (NEDA, 2022).

Eating Disorder Facts Amongst Men

One study estimates that upwards of 25% of males present with an eating disorder. That's 1 in 4 males. (Sweeting. H., et.al., 2015)

25% of males meet criteria for anorexia, 36% meet criteria for binge eating and 25% meet criteria for bulimia nervosa.

(Hudson. J., et.al., 2007)

Eating disorders, anorexia specifically, has one of the highest lethality ratings with a 10-20 year reduction in life.

(Amen Clinics, 2020; Chesney E. et.al., 2014)

When males show up for eating disorder treatment, it's more likely that their symptoms are more severe.

Below you'll find the important details about this 8-week, Mens Eating Disorder Recovery Group. If you're considering joining, you should read this information first.

Who's a good fit for this group?

Not everyone will be a good fit for this group. To be considered for this 8-Week Eating Disorder Recovery Group, you MUST:


  • ... be male and at least 18 years old.
  • ... be in active treatment for an eating disorder e.g. outpatient therapy, IOP etc.
  • ... be willing to commit for 8 weeks and communicate with other men about your experiences.
  • ... complete all concent form, disclosure etc. before the beginning of the group.

The group leader will reach out to those who've completed the RSVP to ensure that you're a good fit.


The group is limited to 8 men however, if there's enough interest, a second group may be considered.

When will these groups occur?

This group starts on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 5:30 PM and lasts for no more than 1.5 hours. Each session thereafter occurs on Thursday over an 8-week period with the final group session on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Where will these groups take place?

This group is held in the group room of our office.


Our office is located at 616 E. 63rd St, Kansas City, Missouri 64110.


We are inside of door #3 and we're suite #106 


Parking is at the rear of the building with overflow parking across the street.

How Much Does the Group Cost?

The total investment for the 8-Week Mens' Eating Disorder Recovery Group is $360.


The only insurance accepted for this Group is Aetna and Blue Cross and Blue Shield you may be subject to a co-pay according to your plan. For more information, please inquire with us.


Members not using Aetna insurance will have the ability to pay the $360 up front or be charged $45/session. Members who choose to be charged per session, will be charged regardless of their session attendance.


The reason for this pricing structure is to reinfornce attendance. We'd ask that you understand that your commitment to this group is not only to your benefit but for the benefit of the other men in attendance.

How to Join the 8-Week Men's Eating Disorder Recovery Group
